Dead Woman Discovered Outside Westchase Apartments, Police Seek Answers

A 911 caller reported finding the woman on the ground Friday night.

HOUSTON, Texas — A woman believed to be in her mid-30s was found dead Friday night at a Westchase apartment complex, prompting a homicide investigation by Houston police.

The call came in about 8:12 p.m. from the Woodland Park Apartments on Woodland Park Drive. Police said officers were sent to the complex after an assault report and a 911 caller’s statement that a woman’s body had been found on the ground.

Officers found the woman dead when they arrived. The Houston Fire Department responded and pronounced her dead at the scene, police said.

Lt. Pulido of the Houston Police Department said investigators were still working to identify the woman. “We haven’t been able to identify her yet,” Pulido said. “We’re gonna have to wait for the autopsy.”

Pulido said no identification or clear identifying markers were found near the woman. Police had not confirmed whether she was a resident of the apartment complex or someone who had been visiting.

Detectives with the department’s homicide division and members of the Crime Scene Unit remained at the apartment complex for several hours. Their work included processing the scene, searching for evidence and canvassing the area for surveillance video.

Investigators also looked for witnesses who could help explain what happened before the woman was found. As of Saturday morning, police had not released a suspect description or a possible motive.

The case remained under investigation while authorities awaited the autopsy and the woman’s identification.
