Woman Found Stabbed to Death Inside Central West End Apartment

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene after officers entered an apartment.

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — St. Louis homicide detectives are investigating after a woman was stabbed to death Tuesday night inside an apartment in the Central West End, police said.

The call brought officers to the 4300 block of Forest Park Parkway at about 9:50 p.m. Police said the woman had multiple puncture wounds when officers found her inside the apartment. Emergency medical workers pronounced her dead there.

A 64-year-old man was taken into custody, police said. Investigators had not announced charges or released details about what happened before officers arrived. The woman’s identity was being withheld pending official notification and further review.

The stabbing happened in one of St. Louis’ busiest central corridors, near Forest Park, hospitals and apartment complexes. Police did not report any broader threat to the neighborhood after the man was detained.

Detectives are expected to continue interviews and evidence review as they determine whether prosecutors will be asked to file charges. Officials had not released a motive, a weapon description or a timeline of events inside the apartment.

The investigation was active Wednesday, with the case centered on the apartment where the woman was found. Police said homicide detectives are handling the death investigation.
