Keisha Farlow, 45, was found dead in an alley after a violent assault.
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Philadelphia homicide detectives are searching for two men after a 45-year-old woman was beaten to death Sunday morning in a North Philadelphia alley, police said.
The victim, identified as Keisha Farlow, was a mother of four. Her death has drawn anger from neighbors and renewed focus on a violent assault that police said was captured in part on surveillance video.
Authorities said Farlow was attacked in an alley in North Philadelphia. Police said she was struck with a brick and stomped during the assault. Officers later found her with severe facial injuries, and medics pronounced her dead at 6:14 a.m. Sunday. Police also said two bloodied bricks were recovered near her body.
Investigators said video obtained in the case shows one man throwing Farlow to the ground before repeatedly striking her. Police said they are also looking for another man believed to have taken part in the attack. After the beating, investigators said the suspects left with Farlow’s purse. The purse was later found several blocks away, emptied of its contents.
No charges had been filed by Tuesday night, and police had not released the suspects’ names. The Homicide Unit is handling the case. Investigators have not said what led to the attack or whether Farlow knew either man. Those details remained unknown Wednesday.
People who live nearby said Farlow kept to herself and did not cause trouble. Darnel Henry of North Philadelphia said the violence was hard to understand. “We are human beings at the end of the day,” Henry said. “Nobody should go out like that.”
Alexia Zia said neighbors are waiting for answers. “I hope whoever did it, I hope that justice will be brought,” Zia said. Police said the case remains active as detectives review video, physical evidence and witness accounts.
Farlow leaves behind four children, including an 11-month-old baby. As of Wednesday, police continued to seek the two men tied to the attack.
