Three Suspects Arrested in Tragic Shooting of 15-Year-Old in Baltimore’s Eastern District

BALTIMORE — Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of 15-year-old John Lewis, who was found in the city’s Eastern District on May 7. Authorities confirmed that Darrell Williams, 34, Zion Wimbish, 19, and Ra’Shawn Smith, 19, face first-degree murder charges following the violent incident.

The shooting occurred around 6:15 p.m. near Brehms Lane. Officers from the Eastern District, responding to an unrelated call, reported hearing gunfire in the vicinity. Upon arrival, they discovered a 19-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. Shortly thereafter, police stopped a vehicle on Mannasota and Brendan Avenue, where Lewis was located with multiple gunshot wounds.

Both shooting victims were promptly transported to a local hospital. While the 19-year-old man is expected to survive, Lewis sadly succumbed to his injuries. Detectives quickly launched an investigation that led to the identification and apprehension of the three suspects.

Smith was injured during the shooting and was initially admitted to a hospital before being taken to the Central Booking Intake Facility. Williams and Wimbish were also booked without incident.
