Person detained after three adults found dead inside home

The victims were found inside a Civorno Drive home after a welfare check request.

TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas — A person of interest was detained Thursday after deputies found three adults dead from gunshot wounds inside a home near Pflugerville, the Travis County Sheriff’s Office said.

The case began with a welfare check, not a shooting call. A relative contacted 911 at about 8:29 a.m. May 7 because one of the people in the home had not shown up for work. Deputies went to the 17900 block of Civorno Drive and found the three bodies.

Authorities described the victims as a man and woman believed to be in their 60s and a man believed to be in his 30s. Their names were withheld pending confirmation by the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office and notification of next of kin. Officials said the home has a Pflugerville address but is outside the city’s limits.

By late morning, investigators had identified a person of interest. Law enforcement found his vehicle near Norwood Park Boulevard, and the man was detained without incident at about 11:45 a.m. U.S. Marshals and Austin police assisted Travis County deputies. Officials did not say whether investigators recovered a weapon.

The sheriff’s office said the deaths are being handled as a triple homicide. Officials also said they believe the incident was isolated, though they had not released a motive or explained what led investigators to the detained man. No public court records or charging details had been announced Thursday night.

Residents described the neighborhood as calm and family-centered. One neighbor said people were shocked by the police response. Fantini, a nearby resident, said she often walks past the home with her dog and did not know whether she had greeted the victims before. “It’s very unfortunate,” she said.

The investigation remained open Friday, May 8. Authorities had not released the identities of the victims or the person detained, and the next update was expected after medical examiner confirmation and family notifications.
