Four Sets Of Remains Found At Genesee County Home

Investigators are working to identify the remains found on Willard Road in Forest Township.

FOREST TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Michigan State Police say investigators have found the remains of at least four people at a Genesee County property first searched in March after a new owner reported finding what appeared to be human remains.

The case now centers on a Willard Road property in Forest Township and at least one other Genesee County property tied to the same former owner, Duane Reynolds. Police have not named a suspect, announced arrests or confirmed the identities of the people whose remains were found.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Flint Post were called March 18 to the Willard Road home after the new property owner contacted authorities. Police said the caller had recently bought the property and found material believed to be human remains. Detectives, forensic specialists and other investigators later determined the remains involved multiple people. State police said in a June 10 update that at least four sets of human remains were present at the property.

Police said the people have not been identified. Investigators are working with the Genesee County Medical Examiner’s Office, Michigan State University anthropologists and the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification. State police said the identification work is being supported through a National Sexual Assault Kit Initiative grant. The grant is being used to help scientifically identify the remains as the investigation continues.

Investigators searched a second Genesee County property on June 10. Police said results from that search were not yet available. Authorities said both the Willard Road property and the second property had been owned by Reynolds, who died Dec. 3, 2024, at age 61. Police have not said when the four people died, how they died or how long the remains had been at the Willard Road location.

The case has drawn attention in Forest Township, a rural community north of Flint, because the discovery came months after Reynolds’ death and after the property changed hands. Police have described the investigation as active and ongoing. They have not released details about evidence recovered from the Willard Road property, and they have not said whether the deaths are being investigated as homicides.

State police said more updates will be released when information becomes available. As of Friday, June 12, the confirmed public findings were limited to the discovery of at least four sets of remains, the search of a second property and the continued work to identify the people found.
