24-Year-Old Man Found Half-Burnt in Open Land – Authorities Investigate Possible Murder

HUBBALLI, India – A 24-year-old man’s half-burnt body was discovered in an open area off Karwar Road in Hubballi, on Wednesday. The victim, identified as Vijay Basava, had left his home on Tuesday evening and failed to return, prompting his family to search for him. They ultimately found his body in the half-burnt state.

Police Commissioner Renuka Sukumar, along with Deputy Commissioner of Police R. Rajeev and Assistant Commissioner of P. Vijaykumar, visited the scene. A dog squad and forensic experts were also brought in to assist in the investigation.

The victim, a team leader at a private telephone company, had last been seen leaving his home on Tuesday evening. His brother, Vishal, explained that he had spoken to Vijay at around 10:30 p.m., but when he did not return, they became concerned. After finding his bike near Chatni Complex, they were informed about a murder in the area.

During the investigation, the police found evidence of liquor bottles and blood-stained stones near the victim’s body. Vishal described his brother as soft-spoken and well-liked, expressing confusion over the motive behind the killing. He also noted that Vijay’s mobile phone was missing.

Police Commissioner Renuka Sukumar assured that the case will be thoroughly investigated, with further steps depending on the findings of the forensic and post-mortem reports. No further details were provided regarding potential suspects or motives.
