Woman and Two Kids Die in Crash; UM Player Leaves Hospital

LARGO, FL – A heart-wrenching car crash in Largo has claimed the lives of three people, leaving the community grappling with the aftermath. The incident, involving Miami Hurricanes linebacker Darius Hayes, occurred near Tampa over the weekend.

The crash happened when a Dodge Durango, carrying Hayes and two others, collided with a green Kia Soul during a left turn. The forceful impact resulted in two children being ejected from the Kia, marking the scene with sorrowful reminders of the tragedy.

Gayle Price, aged 78, was the driver of the Kia and died from her injuries the next day. The young lives of Jabari Solomon, 10, and Charlie Solomon Riviera, 4, were tragically cut short at the scene. In contrast, Hayes and his passengers in the Durango sustained only minor injuries.

Largo police are diligently investigating the crash, employing witness accounts, video footage, and crash data to determine the sequence of events. The use of seatbelts and car seats is also under scrutiny as part of the investigation.
