Two Teens Arrested for Violent Downtown Fresno Assault Incident

FRESNO, Calif. – Two men were arrested by the Fresno Police Department following a violent attack that occurred in downtown Fresno early Friday morning. The incident left a 47-year-old man in critical but stable condition after he was found unresponsive with severe head and upper body trauma at the intersection of Mariposa and E Streets around 4:40 a.m.

Law enforcement officers reviewed video footage from a nearby business, revealing that the victim was assaulted by two Hispanic men who punched, kicked, and struck him multiple times with a large metal object. The suspects were identified as 18-year-old Raymond Mendoza and 19-year-old Ernest Oliver. Both men were apprehended at a nearby apartment complex, where the weapon used in the assault was also recovered.

Subsequently, Mendoza and Oliver were booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of attempted murder.
