Triple Marriage Scandal, Florida Man Sentenced for Bigamy

MIAMI, FL – A Florida man found himself behind bars after his wife discovered he was simultaneously married to two other women. The man, Henry Betsy Jr., faced a sentencing hearing after pleading guilty to bigamy, a felony charge. His case attracted significant attention on social media.

Betsy had initially entered a plea deal in May but was later arrested in another state, prompting a judge to revoke his bond. During his recent court appearance, Betsy, who was once seen in a sport shirt and blazer, appeared in handcuffs and a jail uniform.

The arrest stemmed from an alleged assault in Virginia, where Betsy and his girlfriend had traveled for a wedding. The court session focused on the bigamy charge, which surfaced after three Florida women from different counties discovered they were all married to Betsy.

One of Betsy’s wives, Tanya, stumbled upon his other marriages by searching county records. She expressed frustration about the lack of a system to cross-reference marriage licenses across counties, believing it could have prevented the situation.

Michelle Betsy, another wife, addressed the court, expressing her betrayal and speaking on behalf of the other women involved. She emphasized that Betsy’s actions were deliberate and required accountability.

Betsy offered an apology in court, addressing the women and the court administration, expressing regret for the situation. With no prior criminal record, the judge’s sentencing options were limited, resulting in two years of probation.

In addition to probation, Betsy must undergo a mental health evaluation and complete a batterer’s intervention program. Authorities collected his fingerprints and DNA following his felony conviction.

Despite their hopes for jail time, Betsy’s former wives felt some relief knowing he was now a convicted felon. Michelle Betsy remains skeptical of his remorse, attributing his apology to legal advice rather than genuine regret.

Michelle is now advocating for a statewide marriage license database to prevent similar cases in the future. The judge also ordered Betsy to stay off social media and dating sites and avoid contact with his former wives.
