MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A tragic multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 55 claimed the lives of two individuals Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred just after 4 p.m. near the South Parkway exit, leading to the closure of all southbound lanes for several hours as authorities managed the scene.

According to the Memphis Police Department, emergency responders arrived to find two occupants of a Nissan Altima deceased at the scene. Two additional individuals were transported to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for injuries that were reported as non-life-threatening.
