Tampa Woman Charged in Nail Glue Dental Scam

TAMPA, FL – A Tampa resident is facing legal action after allegedly performing unauthorized dental work, including using nail glue to attach veneers. Authorities are cautioning residents to verify their dentist’s credentials to avoid falling victim to scams.

Emily Martinez, operating under the alias Jasmine Martinez, is accused of masquerading as a licensed dentist and offering veneers at significantly reduced prices, luring clients with the promise of a dazzling smile.

Local dental professionals advise that offers that seem unusually affordable are often fraudulent. Martinez reportedly charged a mere fraction of the standard $1,200 per tooth, raising suspicions.

According to police, her unlicensed procedures have resulted in serious dental complications for clients, with at least one victim requiring immediate care due to incorrectly applied veneers.

Investigators revealed Martinez allegedly used nail glue in these procedures and may have conducted other unapproved dental tasks, such as extractions, without proper qualifications.

Martinez claimed she acquired her skills through an online course, initially to assist her daughter after a dental mishap. She also asserted experience as a dental assistant, claiming to possess the necessary expertise and tools.

Dr. Christopher Bonus, a local dentist, stresses consulting with certified professionals to avoid costly repairs that can escalate into tens of thousands of dollars.

This incident represents the fourth accusation against Martinez for unlicensed dental practice. Authorities are urging additional victims to step forward to aid ongoing investigations.

Officials highlight the importance of verifying dental professionals’ credentials and reading reviews to ensure legitimate care and avoid fraudulent practices.
