CHICAGO, Ill. — Detectives were working Monday to determine what led to a fatal shooting near Kosciuszko Park after Chicago police found a 26-year-old man unresponsive along Harding Avenue on Sunday night.
Police were called about 7:59 p.m. to the 2700 block of North Harding Avenue in the Logan Square neighborhood. The man had been shot in the back and was found on the ground when officers arrived, according to reports citing Chicago police.
Emergency crews took him to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. His identity was not included in the initial public reports reviewed Monday morning.
The location of the shooting put the investigation next to Kosciuszko Park, along Harding Avenue between Diversey and Schubert avenues. CBS Chicago reported that officers had been called for shots fired at the park, while other local reports described the shooting as occurring near the park in the 2700 block of Harding.
