BIRMINGHAM, England — A brother and sister have been convicted of murdering a 21-year-old man in a shocking knife attack that left him with more than 20 stab wounds. Mya Marsh, 23, and her brother Isaiah Marsh, 21, were found guilty by a jury at Birmingham Crown Court following a trial that revealed the brutal nature of the assault on Minister Enfrence on November 5.
Surveillance footage played during the trial captured the horrific scene in which Mya handed a knife to Isaiah as they confronted Enfrence on a street in Kings Norton. The attack appears to have stemmed from an argument, possibly over a delayed cannabis purchase or a damaged bicycle. Enfrence, known to the Marsh siblings as an associate, was attacked just steps from their shared home.
Jurors spent less than four hours deliberating before delivering their unanimous verdict. Mya and Isaiah denied charges of murder and manslaughter, with Isaiah claiming self-defense and Mya insisting she did not expect her brother to use the weapon. Prosecutor Jennifer Josephs outlined how Mya had armed herself with a kitchen knife beforehand, aggressively brandishing it during the altercation.
The court heard that the violence began as a confrontation escalated, with Mya allegedly shouting at Enfrence before the stabbing occurred. Witnesses reported the attack happened in broad daylight, underscoring the audacity of the act. Josephs described the crime as “an unprovoked, senseless and violent attack,” emphasizing the lack of justification for their actions.
Following the attack, Mya reportedly returned to work as if nothing had happened, while Isaiah claimed he lost his phone during the incident when he later presented himself to the police. Their reactions post-incident were cited as further evidence of their callousness, showing no signs of remorse.
Judge Simon Drew has remanded the pair in custody until their sentencing later this week. Speaking on behalf of the police, Detective Inspector Dan Jarratt highlighted the devastating impact of Enfrence’s murder on his loved ones. “This was a brutal and cold-hearted attack,” he stated, reflecting on the significant emotional toll on the victim’s family.
As the case concludes, the community is left grappling with the violence that erupted in their neighborhood. The verdicts serve as a reminder of the tragic consequences of unchecked aggression and the need for vigilance in addressing the roots of such violent behavior.
