Nicolas Cage and Son Embroiled in Legal Battle as Ex Alleges Violent Assault and Negligence

Los Angeles — Former partner of Hollywood icon Nicolas Cage, Christina Fulton, has filed a lawsuit against Cage and their son, alleging she suffered severe injuries in an altercation last year. The complaint targets both Cage for his purported negligence and their son, Weston Cage, for direct assault, claiming enduring physical and emotional distress due to the incident.

Fulton, 57, describes a harrowing encounter with their 34-year-old son Weston, a professional fighter weighing 300 pounds, who allegedly assaulted her without cause. Legal documents reveal Fulton is seeking compensation for multiple alleged injuries, including a concussion, various contusions, as well as dental and neck trauma, which she links to the altercation involving her son.

The confrontation reportedly occurred on April 28, 2024, after Fulton received urgent calls concerning her son’s wellbeing. The filed lawsuit details how the visit quickly escalated, resulting in Weston attacking her across multiple locations at his residence including the parking area, an elevator, and the lobby.

Nicolas Cage has been implicated in the lawsuit for allegedly enabling his son’s aggressive tendencies, despite being aware of his longstanding psychological and mental health issues. Fulton’s legal claims suggest Cage’s financial support and personal interactions with Weston, including residing next door to him and frequently bailing him out of jail, may have contributed to the alleged negligence.

Legal representatives for Nicolas Cage responded to the lawsuit, denouncing it as without merit. Brian Wolf, Cage’s attorney, stated in a response that at 34, Weston is entirely accountable for his actions, highlighting that Nicolas cannot be held responsible for his adult son’s behavior.

The legal discourse has also touched on responsibilities towards adult children with disabilities, suggesting parental duties may not be entirely absolved due to the child’s age. Joseph Farzam, representing Fulton, emphasized that while typically parents are not liable for their adult children’s deeds, exceptions exist, particularly when ongoing mental disabilities prevent self-sufficiency.

This lawsuit is not Fulton’s first legal engagement with Cage; in 2009, she pursued claims against him over an alleged unpaid promise that involved buying her a residence. The dispute was eventually settled in 2011, with undisclosed terms.

Fulton’s allegations come amid a backdrop of earlier legal troubles involving Weston, who has faced various charges over the years ranging from domestic violence to driving under the influence.

Both Nicolas Cage’s and Weston Cage’s representatives have been approached for further comments on the ongoing situation. As the case develops, further scrutiny into familial responsibilities and the extent of oversight an individual holds over their adult kin’s conduct is anticipated. The lawsuit paints a complex portrait of familial relations entwined with allegations of misconduct and the challenges inherent in managing relationships complicated by public scrutiny and personal demons.
