Alyssa “Ally” Hill, 27, died after a stabbing at the Montgomery Road restaurant where she worked.
NORWOOD, Ohio — A 27-year-old Skyline Chili server and mother of two was fatally stabbed Tuesday afternoon inside the Norwood restaurant where she worked, and her former boyfriend has been charged with murder.
Alyssa Hill, who friends called Ally, died after the attack at the Skyline Chili on Montgomery Road, according to Hamilton County court records. Friends described Hill as warm, hardworking and focused on her children. The restaurant remained closed Wednesday as flowers were placed near the doors.
Rick Wright, 37, is accused of targeting Hill while she was working as a server, according to a criminal complaint. The Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed Wright was Hill’s former boyfriend. A judge ordered him held without bond after prosecutors cited his criminal history and called him a danger to the community.
Brook Crawford, a friend of Hill’s, said Hill was “very energetic” and brought light into rooms she entered. Crawford said Hill and Wright had dated for only a few months and that Hill later moved to get away from him. “She had gotten some really bad vibes off of him and red flags,” Crawford said.
Kayla Elliott, another close friend, said Hill had worked at Skyline Chili for years and was trying to provide for her family. Elliott said Hill had “such a kind heart” and was the kind of person who would help others even when she had little herself. Friends said Hill was also helping care for her father.
Court records show Wright was on probation at the time of the stabbing after a 2025 misdemeanor conviction for assaulting a police officer. Records also show prior convictions tied to assault, menacing, robbery and drug offenses. Prosecutors said Wright had failed to report to probation and had an active warrant before his arrest.
Wright appeared in court Wednesday. A detention hearing was scheduled for June 5. The case remains in Hamilton County Municipal Court as investigators and prosecutors continue the next steps in the murder case.
Skyline Chili said the Norwood restaurant would reopen Thursday at 10:30 a.m. A memorial fund was created for Hill’s children and funeral expenses, and friends said they want her remembered for her strength, her love and the life she built around her family.
