Memphis, Tennessee – Famed rapper Yo Gotti’s brother, Anthony “Big Jook” Mims, was tragically killed in a targeted shooting outside of a restaurant in Memphis on Saturday. The shooting occurred around 4:15 p.m. at Perignons Restaurant & Event Center, where two men were shot. Mims, one of the victims, was rushed to St. Francis Hospital, but unfortunately pronounced dead upon arrival. Another individual was also injured and remains in critical condition.
According to Memphis Deputy Police Chief Paul Wright, both victims were at the restaurant for a repast service. The investigation is ongoing, and police have not made any arrests or identified any suspects. Big Jook had attended a funeral service for a relative earlier in the day, but it is unclear if his rapper brother Yo Gotti was with him at the time of the shooting. Yo Gotti, born Mario Sentell Giden Mims, has gained recognition in the music industry and has been nominated for several BET Hip Hop awards.
Big Jook, known for his involvement in his brother’s record label, CMG the Label, was both a businessman and appeared in music videos released by the label. It is devastating news for the music community, and the tragic incident has left the community in shock.
