A woman was hospitalized in stable condition, and a man was treated for a non-life-threatening wound hours later.
LONG BEACH, Calif. — Long Beach police were searching for a male suspect after a woman was stabbed while walking Thursday night, followed hours later by a second stabbing several miles away early Friday.
The first attack was reported about 10:36 p.m. May 28 in the 4500 block of California Avenue. Police said officers found an adult woman with stab wounds to her upper and lower body. Long Beach Fire Department paramedics took her to a hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.
Investigators said the woman was walking in the area when a male suspect approached and stabbed her before leaving. Police had not released the victim’s name, the suspect’s name or a detailed description. The motive remained under investigation.
A little more than four and a half hours later, officers responded to another stabbing about 3:09 a.m. May 29 in the 3200 block of East Anaheim Street. Police said an adult man told officers a male suspect stabbed him before fleeing. Paramedics took him to a hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening wound to his upper body.
Police had not said whether the two stabbings were connected. Both cases remained open as detectives reviewed the circumstances, including where each attack happened and what may have led up to them.
No arrests had been announced as of Monday. Police said suspect information, motive and other details were still under investigation in both incidents.
