STUART, Fla. — A brutal confrontation at a Jensen Beach residence late Tuesday night resulted in one woman hospitalized and her ex-boyfriend facing serious charges related to the violent incident. The Martin County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to a distress call shortly before 10 p.m. at a two-story home on NW Ocean View Circle, where they encountered a disturbing scene.
According to authorities, Brian Thomas Leach invited the victim, both in their 60s, downstairs to discuss potential eviction issues. They had previously been in a romantic relationship but had since parted ways. The dinner conversation escalated tragically when Leach allegedly began attacking the woman, leaving her severely injured and unconscious.
Witnesses described the aftermath, with one official noting the harrowing state of the home, including a blood-stained room and damage to vehicles outside. After the attack, Leach reportedly exited the house and rammed his gray SUV into the property, causing significant damage to both the residence and neighboring vehicles.
When deputies arrived, Leach remained in the vehicle and had to be restrained. Shortly before his arrest, he inflicted injuries on himself using a knife, attempting to end his own life, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
First responders found the woman unconscious and began life-saving measures. She regained consciousness before being transported to a local hospital, where she is expected to recover. Meanwhile, Leach is also receiving medical treatment. Upon his release, he is anticipated to be booked on charges of attempted murder.
The violent incident serves as a troubling reminder of the risks associated with domestic disputes, particularly when prior relationships become contentious. Local authorities continue to stress the importance of seeking help in situations that may escalate into danger.
