Grandmother, Teen and Boyfriend Dead in Monticello Shooting

Police said the case is being investigated as an alleged double murder-suicide.

MONTICELLO, Ark. — Three people were found shot to death Monday after police responded to a domestic disturbance call at a Monticello home, authorities said.

The Monticello Police Department identified the victims Tuesday as Sherry Brown, McKenzie Lee Asarisi and Keyshawn Laron Daniels after next of kin were notified. Police said detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division are leading the case.

Officers were sent to the residence about 4 a.m. Monday after dispatchers received a 911 call reporting a domestic altercation inside the city. When officers arrived, they found three people with gunshot wounds. Emergency medical workers came to the scene to provide treatment, but the Drew County coroner later pronounced all three dead.

Family members told KATV they believe the shooting was a murder-suicide. They said the victims included a 19-year-old woman, her grandmother and the woman’s boyfriend. Relatives also said the woman’s great-grandfather was inside the home during the shooting and was not injured. Police have not released a full account of what happened before officers arrived.

Authorities have not said who fired the shots, whether a weapon was recovered or whether anyone had called police to the home before Monday. Police said the incident was not considered a threat to the public. The department has not announced any arrests.

The shooting happened on Memorial Day and drew a response from police, emergency medical crews and the Drew County coroner. Investigators remained focused on the home and the people inside it as they worked to build a timeline from the 911 call, witness statements and evidence collected at the scene.

The case remains under investigation by Monticello police detectives. No court hearing or briefing had been announced by Tuesday morning.
