Florida Eye Doctor Accused of Killing Ex-Wife Amid Abuse and $250K Settlement

STUART, FL – A Florida ophthalmologist has been charged with the murder of his ex-wife, a flight attendant, following a history of alleged stalking and abuse. Dr. Richard Keith is accused of fatally shooting Cynthia Keith near her Lake Worth home.

Cynthia, employed by Spirit Airlines, was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head. Authorities discovered her body on a sidewalk, her car keys in hand, and still in her uniform. The incident occurred in the early hours of July 15.

Dr. Keith, who worked and owned a practice in Stuart, had finalized his divorce from Cynthia in May. The separation reportedly involved a substantial financial settlement and property transfer. Investigators claim he engaged in a pattern of stalking leading up to the divorce.

Surveillance footage captured Dr. Keith’s vehicle in Cynthia’s neighborhood at the time of the shooting. Friends and patients of Dr. Keith were stunned by the arrest, describing him as professional and personable.

The arrest report reveals troubling aspects of their relationship, including allegations of coercion and manipulation. Dr. Keith allegedly attempted to pressure Cynthia into unwanted situations by offering financial assistance for health issues.

A search at Dr. Keith’s office yielded firearms and a device to alter a handgun. The discovery has added complexity to the investigation as authorities seek to understand the motives behind the crime.

Testimonies from acquaintances highlighted the toxic nature of the marriage, with some advising Cynthia to leave. It was also reported that Dr. Keith had previously contemplated harming his first wife but refrained due to familial concerns.

Dr. Keith is currently held in Palm Beach County Jail, as the case continues to unfold, leaving the community in disbelief.
