Driver Charged In Crash That Killed Three Deputies

Corrinne Blue faces three vehicular homicide counts after a 2024 Southern Boulevard crash.

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — A West Palm Beach woman has been charged with three counts of vehicular homicide in a 2024 crash that killed three Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office motorcycle deputies, state and local officials said.

Corrinne Adrianna Blue, 32, was arrested April 30 after a judge in the 15th Judicial Circuit issued a felony warrant. The charges follow a Florida Highway Patrol investigation into the Nov. 21, 2024, crash on Southern Boulevard near Lion Country Safari.

The crash killed Cpl. Luis Paez Jr., Deputy Sheriff Ralph “Butch” Waller and Deputy Sheriff Ignacio “Dan” Diaz. Paez and Waller died the day of the crash. Diaz died Nov. 25 from his injuries. The deputies had been working traffic enforcement when one motorcycle would not start, officials said.

Investigators said the deputies were on the shoulder in the 18000 block of Southern Boulevard, west of Seminole Pratt Whitney Road, while waiting for battery cables. Blue was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee eastbound when she tried to pass a slower vehicle on the right, officials said. Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said the SUV veered toward the shoulder and struck the deputies and their motorcycles.

The State Attorney’s Office said Blue was driving in an unsafe manner and well above the posted 55 mph speed limit before the crash. State Attorney Alexcia Cox said the charges came after a full review of the evidence and marked “an important step in the pursuit of justice” for the deputies’ families.

Blue made her first court appearance May 1. A judge set bond at $750,000, or $250,000 for each count. Prosecutors also asked that Blue have no contact with witnesses, not drive and not leave the county while the case moves forward.

Dave Kerner, executive director of the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, said officials now expect the case to move through the courts. The agency said the warrant followed a thorough and complex criminal investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said it continues to grieve the deaths of Paez, Waller and Diaz. The agency said no court outcome can replace the lives lost, but it remains committed to seeing the case through the justice system.

The case now shifts from investigation to prosecution, with Blue facing three second-degree felony counts tied to one of the deadliest crashes involving Palm Beach County law enforcement in recent years.
