CARROLLTON, GA – The courtroom was somber as the trial of a former state trooper, charged with causing a fatal accident in 2015, continued into its second day. The crash, which resulted in the deaths of two teenagers, has left a lasting impact on the community.
Jurors were shown disturbing images from the crash site, highlighting the presence of alcohol containers in the teens’ vehicle. However, prosecutors clarified there was no proof the young driver was under the influence.
Testimonies revealed the emotional weight of the tragedy. One teenage girl, caught in the aftermath, was heard repeatedly asking to call her mother—a poignant reminder of the human cost of the incident.
Footage from a patrol car’s dashcam offered a chilling view of the events leading to the crash. The video showed a Nissan Sentra with four teens onboard, moments before it collided with the trooper’s vehicle on the highway.
Emergency responder Jessica Pulk recalled her time with the driver, Dylan Wall, as she transported him to the hospital. His concern for his friends’ safety was evident, though tragically, two of them, Kylie Lindsay and Isabella Chinia, did not survive.
Volunteer firefighter John McCorley provided testimony about his attempts to assist Kylie. Her persistent requests to call her mother underscored the trauma she experienced.
The prosecution alleges that the trooper, Andrew Scott, was speeding excessively without using lights or sirens, a critical factor in the crash. Photographs of the wreckage were presented to the jury to illustrate the severity of the collision.
Despite finding alcohol, authorities concluded there was insufficient evidence to charge the teen driver with DUI. Meanwhile, Scott, who was dismissed from his position, later became the mayor of Buchanan, where he continues to serve.
The trial, which could result in a 30-year prison sentence for Scott if convicted, is being closely watched by those seeking justice for the young victims.
