As loved ones gathered to remember the son, brother, and father, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office revealed that the individual accused of fatally shooting Bevan will not face murder charges.
In a heartfelt tribute, Steven’s mother, Anabel Bevan, expressed her sorrow, saying, “The day has come to say goodbye, and though I know you’re at peace with the Lord, it doesn’t make the loss any less painful.” Throughout the service, attendees reflected on his vibrant spirit through a heartfelt slideshow showcasing cherished memories. His older brother, Eric Bevan, recounted how Steven had an innate ability to uplift those around him, often cracking jokes even on his toughest days.
Bevan’s life came to a sudden end on July 1 during a road rage incident in Tempe. According to police reports, an altercation began when Bevan abruptly stopped his vehicle in front of Dustin Jackson’s truck and exited, reportedly with his hands raised. Both men had children in their vehicles at the time.
After reviewing the evidence, including video footage of the encounter, a grand jury chose not to indict Jackson on homicide and weapons-related charges. This outcome has left Bevan’s family grappling with their grief. “I don’t agree with the actions of either party in this confrontation, but today we’re here to mourn my little brother,” Eric Bevan said. “He gets to go home while we are left with the heartache.”
