Chicago, Illinois — Authorities are seeking assistance from the public in the ongoing investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred on the South Side in May. The incident took place in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood, where a confrontation between women escalated into violence, resulting in the death of a 20-year-old woman.
The confrontation began around 1:13 a.m. on May 15, near the intersection of 78th Street and Eberhart Avenue. Witnesses reported that a man intervened in the dispute, pulled out a firearm, and shot Mileena Brown twice before fleeing the scene. Despite immediate medical attention at the University of Chicago Medical Center, Brown succumbed to her injuries.
In connection with the shooting, police have identified two individuals of interest. Surveillance footage released by law enforcement shows these suspects entering a nearby Harold’s Chicken restaurant and lingering outside the establishment. One suspect was last seen wearing a dark-colored New Balance hoodie, a dark jacket, light pants, and multicolored sneakers. The second individual was described as wearing a dark hoodie, a dark jacket, and blue jeans, with long red hair and a light-colored purse.
