The body, identified as a white male, was located under a rock overhang, partially concealed by a pile of rocks, making it a secluded and obscure location. This area of the park, not commonly visited by hikers, is positioned just a few hundred feet from the popular Skyride attraction, which had recently reopened after being closed for several hours.
John Bankhead, a representative from Stone Mountain Park Public Safety, mentioned that the discovery was unprecedented in his experience at the park. “It’s a very unusual situation,” he said, assuring the public that there is no immediate threat to their safety.
