Chisen Jameson worked in aviation weather before police found her fatally shot Sunday night and arrested her husband.
FAIR OAKS, Va. — An aviation meteorologist remembered by her employer as a valued colleague was found fatally shot in her Fair Oaks home, leaving relatives, co-workers and neighbors grieving as her husband faces murder charges.
Fairfax County police identified the woman as 60-year-old Chisen Jameson. Officers found her inside a residence in the 12000 block of Washington Brice Road late Sunday after an emergency call that ended while a dispatcher heard sounds consistent with a disturbance.
Her husband, 64-year-old Leland Jameson, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He was being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. The charges remain allegations and have not been proven in court.
Chisen Jameson worked at Washington Dulles International Airport as a meteorologist for Japan’s All Nippon Airways, according to information provided by the airline and local news reports. Her work placed her in an aviation field where weather analysis can help support flight planning and airport operations.
“All Nippon Airways is heartbroken by the loss of our colleague,” an airline spokesperson said in a statement. “She was a valued member of our team and her passing has deeply affected everyone who knew and worked with her.”
A National Weather Service document from a November 2025 aviation users forum listed Chisen Jameson as an ANA participant. The meeting brought together meteorology and aviation representatives, including people affiliated with airlines, the Federal Aviation Administration and government weather services.
Police said the first call connected to the Jameson home came at 10:21 p.m. Sunday. A Fairfax County Department of Public Safety Communications call taker heard indications of a disturbance before the call disconnected. Authorities said another 911 call was received at 10:39 p.m.
Responding officers found Chisen Jameson with gunshot wounds to her upper body. She was declared dead at the scene. Police said their preliminary findings indicated that she had been shot by her husband inside the home.
Officials said Leland Jameson reported during a 911 call that he had been involved in a domestic dispute with his wife and did not know her condition. Investigators have not released the recordings of the calls or provided a full account of the conversation that preceded the shooting.
Police took Jameson into custody at the property. Investigators reported recovering several firearms from the residence, along with other physical evidence. They have not announced a motive or publicly explained what they believe caused the dispute to become deadly.
The couple had two adult sons living in Northern Virginia, according to information provided to local media. Fairfax County police said victim specialists were assigned to help the family after Chisen Jameson’s death.
The shooting also unsettled people in the surrounding residential community. Neighbor Patrick Sweeney said he had lived in the area for more than 20 years but did not know the couple well.
“We’re a pretty tight-knit community,” Sweeney said. “Just shocking for something like that to happen here.”
Police said the couple were believed to have been the only people in the residence during the shooting. Deputy Chief Brendan Hooke said there were no outstanding suspects, and investigators did not believe the incident presented a continuing danger to nearby residents.
Major Crimes Bureau detectives continued interviewing people and processing evidence Tuesday. Police have not announced any additional charges or released information about Leland Jameson’s next court hearing.
