The “Pretty Little Liars” actor suffered a forehead injury after two men demanded his watch and fled, authorities said.
WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Actor Keegan Allen said he was beaten and robbed by two armed men outside a West Hollywood business Thursday night, an attack that left him with a forehead injury and was partly captured on surveillance video.
Allen, 37, known for playing Toby Cavanaugh on the television series “Pretty Little Liars,” posted video to social media after the encounter. He said two masked men approached him outside Laurel Supply, near Santa Monica Boulevard and Holloway Drive, and took his watch after confronting him with weapons.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said deputies responded to a robbery call in the 8400 block of Santa Monica Boulevard at about 9:05 p.m. Thursday. The department did not publicly identify the victim in its account, but the details it released matched Allen’s description of the incident.
Authorities said the victim reported being approached by two men dressed in black. One was armed with a silver handgun and the other had a knife, according to the Sheriff’s Department. The men demanded the victim’s watch and bracelet before the victim was struck in the face with the handgun. The robbers obtained the watch and escaped in a vehicle, authorities said.
Allen shared what appeared to be surveillance footage showing two people approach him in a parking lot. The video appeared to show a confrontation as Allen removed his watch. One of the people then appeared to strike him before both ran from the area. Allen also posted footage of himself after the attack with blood visible on his face.
“I was just robbed of my watch outside Laurel Supply,” Allen said in the video. He said two men hit him in the head and threatened him with a gun and knife before leaving. Allen later said the watch taken in the robbery was a Rolex.
The Sheriff’s Department said the victim suffered a laceration to his forehead. Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel evaluated him at the scene, and authorities said he was not transported to a hospital. Allen later wrote on social media that he believed he had suffered a concussion.
Allen also used his posts to express concern about public safety in West Hollywood. His comments reflected his personal reaction to the attack. Authorities had not announced evidence Friday linking the robbery to a broader pattern of crime or identifying a motive beyond the property demanded during the confrontation.
No arrests had been announced as of Friday. ABC7 reported that detailed descriptions of the suspects were not immediately available. West Hollywood Station detectives were investigating the robbery and seeking information about the people involved.
