Wall Township Man Charged with Attempted Murder After Violent Attack on Girlfriend

Wall Township, New Jersey – A Wall Township man is facing charges of Attempted Murder after allegedly brutally attacking his girlfriend in an apartment complex parking lot, as announced by Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago.

Alex J. Williams, 24, has been charged with one count of first-degree Attempted Murder, one count of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and one count of third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose (machete).

The incident took place on Thursday, May 23, 2024, around 9:22 a.m. when officers responded to reports of an assault at the Glen Oaks Apartment Complex. Upon arrival, they found the female victim with severe injuries and she was quickly taken to a local hospital where she remains in critical condition.

An investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau revealed that Williams had allegedly assaulted the victim multiple times with a machete. The victim’s child was reportedly present during the attack, leading to the charge of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Williams was arrested without incident and is currently in custody at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution awaiting a detention hearing scheduled for Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 9 a.m. before Judge Richard W. English in Monmouth County Superior Court.

Assistant Prosecutor Joseph Cummings of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau is handling the case, while the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office is urging anyone with information on the incident to come forward.
