Two Dead, One Fighting for Life After Baldwin Park Shooting

Detectives search for motive after three victims found on city street.

BALDWIN PARK, Calif. — A shooting in Baldwin Park early Friday left two people dead and a third hospitalized in critical condition, authorities said, as investigators worked to identify a suspect and determine what led to the violence.

Emergency crews responded shortly after 5 a.m. to reports of gunfire near Millbury and Bresse avenues, where they found three individuals with gunshot wounds. Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third was rushed to a hospital. Officials said the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear.

First responders arrived to find a chaotic scene in the residential neighborhood, with police officers already present when fire personnel reached the area. Authorities confirmed that no officers discharged weapons during the incident. Investigators began securing the location and collecting evidence within minutes of arrival.

Officials have not released the names or ages of the victims. The relationship between those involved has not been disclosed, and it remains unknown whether the shooting was random or targeted. “At this point, we are still gathering facts,” an official said, noting that detectives are piecing together information from the scene and nearby residents.

Residents reported hearing multiple gunshots in the early morning hours, disrupting an otherwise quiet neighborhood. Some said they saw flashing lights and emergency vehicles shortly after, as authorities blocked off streets and began their investigation. Evidence markers and police tape remained in place for hours as investigators worked.

Law enforcement agencies in the region have faced ongoing challenges addressing gun violence, particularly in cases where motives are unclear and suspects are not immediately identified. Officials said incidents like this require extensive follow-up, including forensic analysis and interviews.

Detectives are expected to review any available surveillance video and follow leads developed at the scene. Authorities have not provided a description of a suspect or indicated whether they believe more than one person was involved.

No arrests had been announced by Friday afternoon. Officials said the investigation could take time as they work to verify evidence and reconstruct the events leading up to the shooting.

The third victim remained in critical condition, and updates on that individual’s status were not immediately available.

Investigators continue to ask for information from the public as they work to determine what happened and who is responsible.
