Double Shooting Rocks Quiet Lehigh Acres Neighborhood

Deputies said both victims suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — Two people were injured Wednesday night after a shooting in the 4500 block of 21st Street Southwest in Lehigh Acres, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies responded around 10:30 p.m. after reports of gunfire in the residential area. The agency said both victims were found with gunshot wounds and taken to a local hospital. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The shooting brought a large law enforcement response to the neighborhood, with multiple patrol units seen along 21st Street Southwest. Earlier reports from the scene described about 10 deputy units and a sheriff’s office van in the area as deputies worked to secure the block and gather information.

The sheriff’s office said its Violent Crimes Unit is handling the investigation. Officials had not released the victims’ names, ages or conditions beyond saying their injuries were not life-threatening. No arrest information, suspect description or motive had been announced.

The shooting remained under investigation Thursday. The sheriff’s office said more updates would be released when available, while deputies continued reviewing what happened before gunfire was reported.
