A father was hospitalized after calling 911 from the Vineyards community.
NORTH NAPLES, Fla. — Two people died and one man was hospitalized after a Wednesday night shooting on Avellino Isles Circle in the Vineyards community, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies responded around 7:20 p.m. June 10 after a father called 911 and reported that his son had shot his wife and then himself, according to authorities. The shooting drew law enforcement, fire crews and emergency medical workers to a residential area inside the gated North Naples community.
The sheriff’s office said the case was being handled as a death investigation. Officials have not publicly released the names of the people who died or the condition of the hospitalized man. Investigators also have not said what led to the shooting or whether there had been prior calls to the home.
Emergency crews responded to the Avellino Isles Circle address after the 911 call. Deputies secured the scene while medical workers treated the surviving man and confirmed the deaths. The sheriff’s office described the incident as contained and did not report an ongoing threat to nearby residents.
The Vineyards community is a residential area in North Naples with condos, homes and private roads. The shooting brought a heavy emergency response to a quiet neighborhood where violent crime scenes are uncommon. Neighbors were left waiting for answers as detectives worked through the night.
As of Friday, authorities had not announced criminal charges. The next step is expected to include death notifications, autopsy findings and a completed investigative report from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.
