Indian Trail, N.C. — A tragic incident at a Taco Bell in Union County left one employee dead on Monday night, prompting an investigation by local authorities. The shooting occurred around 8:45 p.m. at the busy fast-food location on Independence Boulevard, raising concerns among residents about safety in their community.
Witnesses report that the fast-food establishment, typically a hub of local activity, was transformed into a scene of shock and confusion. Longtime Indian Trail resident Bradley Kern expressed disbelief regarding the violence. “This area is known for its safety,” Kern said, emphasizing that such occurrences are rare. “You don’t hear about much crime happening here.”
Upon arrival, law enforcement officials discovered evidence of the shooting and learned that the suspect fled the scene in an unknown vehicle. Union County Sheriff’s deputies have not yet released details about the car or its driver, but local officials are urging community members to provide any information that could assist the investigation.
Reid Helms, President of Union County Crimestoppers, emphasized the severity of the situation, calling it “about as violent as you can get.” He noted the unsettling nature of the incident, highlighting the victim’s role—as a hardworking member of the local community—who was targeted in their place of employment.
