Terrorist Group Claims Responsibility for Murder of Jewish Businessman in Egypt

Alexandria, Egypt – A newly emerged terrorist group claimed responsibility for the murder of a Jewish businessman with Israeli, Ukrainian, and Canadian citizenship in Egypt. The organization cited Israeli military actions in Gaza and alleged ties to Mossad as the motives behind the attack. The Egyptian Interior Ministry initially labeled the incident as criminal, but the Vanguard of Liberation Group for Martyr Mohamed Salah contradicted this assertion, asserting the businessman’s assassination was a targeted act of retribution.

The group, named after an Egyptian police officer who killed three IDF soldiers in 2023, posted a statement and graphic image on a Telegram channel, featuring a red triangle commonly associated with Hamas propaganda signaling a terrorist target. The message ominously declared, “Wait for the next. Shalom from the children of Gaza,” hinting at potential future attacks. The organization claimed that the businessman was targeted due to his alleged involvement in Israeli intelligence operations disguised under the guise of his export business.

According to Al-Arabiya, the victim was identified as a Ukrainian businessman who had been residing in Egypt for over nine years. With offices in Ukraine and Israel, the victim’s company, specializing in frozen fruits and vegetables, was alleged to have connections to intelligence operations. Both the Israeli Foreign Ministry and Global Affairs Canada acknowledged the reports of the businessman’s death, with the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry yet to comment on the matter.

In a separate incident, two Israeli tourists and their Egyptian guide were murdered in Alexandria, with reports suggesting a policeman was responsible for the attack. The officer claimed to have acted out of provocation, underscoring the fragile tensions in the region. These escalating incidences highlight the precarious security climate in Egypt and the broader Middle East, emphasizing the need for heightened vigilance and diplomatic efforts to prevent further violence.
