Such was the harrowing experience that unfolded in a New City residence just weeks ago. Home, typically a place of refuge and protection, became the scene of a disturbing incident that left a victim seriously injured.
On the night of April 11, 2024, Ramapo Police Officers rushed to Trailside Place in New City, Rockland County, in response to reports of a violent altercation. The victim, confronted by an unknown assailant in his own driveway, suffered multiple stab wounds to the head, neck, and body. Law enforcement swiftly intervened, and the victim was transported to a hospital in serious condition.
Within 48 hours of launching an investigation, authorities were able to apprehend the suspect responsible for the brutal assault. The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Elijah Dean from Orange County, faced arraignment on May 3, 2024, in Rockland County Court. Dean was charged with attempted murder, assault, and possession of a weapon.
Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Town of Ramapo Police Department, Spring Valley Police Department, and Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, collaborated on the case. Rockland County District Attorney Tom Walsh condemned the act of violence, emphasizing that such actions would not be tolerated in the county.
