Suspect with History of Sucker-Punch Attacks Released After Breaking NYC Woman’s Jaw

New York City, USA – A shocking incident in New York City has left a woman with a broken jaw after being punched in a brazen daylight attack. The suspect, Franz Jeudy, 33, has a history of similar sucker-punch assaults and a long-standing struggle with mental illness. The victim, Dulche Pichardo, 57, a school bus aide, was assaulted as she was walking home from work in Crown Heights. Despite the severity of her injuries, Jeudy was released on supervised release by a Brooklyn judge after facing misdemeanor charges.

Jeudy’s previous arrests include two other random punch attacks, one on a law enforcement officer and another on a security guard. In 2018, he assaulted a Department of Homeless Services officer and in 2019, he attacked a security guard at a medical center in Manhattan. Both misdemeanor charges were later dismissed after Jeudy was found unfit to stand trial due to his history of schizophrenia.

Following the recent assault on Pichardo, other women in New York City have come forward with similar experiences of being randomly punched while walking. The incidents have sparked fear and concern among residents, leading to a demand for increased safety measures by law enforcement. Instances of unprovoked violence on women have raised alarms about the need for stricter penalties and mental health interventions for perpetrators like Jeudy.

As authorities investigate the assault on Pichardo, the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office is considering upgrading Jeudy’s charges to felony assault. The disturbing trend of sucker punch attacks in the city has garnered attention and calls for action to prevent such senseless acts of violence. Community members and officials alike are urging for justice and measures to ensure the safety of individuals in public spaces.
