Brave Police Officer Chases Down Attacker After Being Stabbed in Sydney City Centre Incident

Sydney, Australia – A police officer in Sydney’s city center showed remarkable bravery after being stabbed in a daylight attack, as he chased down his assailant despite his injuries. Elvis Poa, 35, is currently in stable condition at a hospital following the incident near Hyde Park on Sunday afternoon.

Poa, along with another officer, was conducting traffic duties when they were approached by a 35-year-old alleged attacker near the corner of Castlereagh and Park streets. The attacker reportedly brandished a 30cm long kitchen-style knife and stabbed Constable Poa multiple times in the back of the head.

Despite his wounds, Poa pursued the assailant along Park St and into Hyde Park, where fellow officers assisted in instructing the suspect to drop the knife. The man was ultimately tasered and taken into custody by authorities.
