Severe Weather Strikes Southeast Garland County: Cleanup Underway After Tornado Hits communities

Hot Springs, Arkansas – Recent severe weather caused significant damage across southeast Garland County early Wednesday morning. The storm swept through areas such as Amity Road and Rush Fork Road, leaving destruction in its wake. Reports of a possible tornado were captured on video by a viewer and shared by County Judge Darryl Mahoney.

Emergency crews were quick to respond to the scene, assessing the damage and ensuring the safety of residents. As of 9:30 A.M., the Hot Springs Fire Department conducted search and rescue operations in the Lakeland Drive and Peninsula Drive communities. Impassable streets were identified, with efforts underway to clear access for residents.

Fortunately, there have been no reported deaths, and only minor injuries have been reported. The city’s Animal Services building on Davidson Drive sustained light damage due to downed trees, with efforts underway to address the aftermath of the storm. Fire Department crews are collaborating with Summit Utilities to contain gas leaks in the affected areas.

Sheriff Mike McCormick of Garland County provided updates on the situation, stating that no major injuries or fatalities had been reported following the storm. Power outages affected around 5,300 Entergy Arkansas customers, with efforts to restore service ongoing. Areas like Amity Road experienced significant damage, prompting road closures and detours to ensure public safety.

The community is advised to avoid damaged areas whenever possible to allow emergency crews to work effectively.
