Russia Rains Missiles On Kyiv, Killing 1 and Injuring Many in Latest Attacks

Kyiv, Ukraine – Russia launched a series of missile strikes on the Ukrainian capital and other cities, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries. The attacks caused widespread destruction, with rockets hitting high-rise buildings, sparking fires, and causing power outages in several areas of Kyiv.

The Ukrainian air force reported that Russia had used Kindzhal missiles in the attacks, targeting not only Kyiv but also other areas in the south and west of the country. This escalation of violence comes after Russian President Vladimir Putin vowed to intensify strikes on military targets in response to a recent Ukrainian attack on the Russian city of Belgorod.

In the eastern city of Kharkiv, one person was killed and over 20 were injured by at least four missile strikes, causing significant damage to buildings and civilian infrastructure. The mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, reported multiple explosions and debris from downed missiles hitting the capital, causing fires and damage to residential and commercial buildings.

The attacks on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities follow previous waves of strikes by Russia, including a New Year’s Eve attack and a series of strikes on December 29 that resulted in the deaths of 39 people. According to Ukrainian officials, the attacks have also included a record number of drones launched by Russia, adding to the devastation and loss of life.

As a result of the ongoing attacks, multiple districts in Kyiv are without power, with some areas also experiencing a temporary lack of water pressure in the supply network. The city’s military administration has assured residents that they will work to restore electricity and address other infrastructure damage as soon as the security situation allows.

In the face of these continued acts of aggression, Ukrainian officials have condemned Russia’s actions and called for international support in addressing the crisis. The latest attacks serve as a grim reminder of the ongoing conflict between the two nations and the devastating impact it has on the people of Ukraine.
