Oakland Man Convicted for Fatal Shooting at Richmond Father’s Day Party

Richmond, California – After a lengthy investigation, the Contra Costa County district attorney’s office announced the conviction of an Oakland man in connection with a deadly mass shooting at a Father’s Day party in 2021. Enrique Ramirez-Calmo was arrested for his involvement in the shooting that resulted in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to four others at the party in Richmond.

Ramirez-Calmo, along with another gang member, opened fire at the party, resulting in the tragic loss of life and injuries to several partygoers. The shooting, which took place on Dunn Avenue near 20th Street, was fueled by mistaken identity and gang rivalry. The victims, all men between the ages of 18 and 45, were caught in the crossfire of the violent incident.

Authorities were able to make a breakthrough in the case when they discovered a ballistic match from a separate shooting that occurred in Oakland on the same night as the house-party shooting in Richmond. Additionally, police obtained video footage showing the suspects arriving at the party in a Nissan Altima, further linking them to the crime.

In March 2022, Ramirez-Calmo and the teenage shooter were apprehended by law enforcement and taken into custody. Prosecutors presented compelling evidence during the trial, including video captured by one of the victims at the time of the shooting, illustrating the senseless and tragic nature of the massacre that unfolded at the Father’s Day party.

District Attorney Diana Becton expressed her sentiments about the case, referring to it as a “senseless massacre that shattered the lives of innocent families.” The deputy district attorney highlighted the numerous challenges faced during the investigation and trial, underscoring the complexity of the case.

Following the jury’s verdict earlier this week, Ramirez-Calmo was found guilty on multiple charges, including three counts of first-degree murder, four counts of attempted murder, and various gang-related and special circumstances enhancements. He is set to be sentenced on March 11 in Martinez for his role in the devastating events that unfolded during the Father’s Day party in Richmond.
