Man Detained After Two Bodies Found in Miami-Dade Farm Field

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said homicide detectives are investigating the deaths.

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. — Deputies detained a man Friday after a man and woman were found dead in a rural Redland-area field, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said.

The investigation began shortly after 8:30 a.m., when deputies were sent to the 26100 block of Southwest 209th Avenue for a report of a deceased adult woman. Deputies found both a woman and a man dead when they reached the property.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews responded and pronounced both people dead. Authorities had not released their identities Friday, and investigators had not said whether the detained man was considered a suspect or witness.

Video from above the scene showed a large rural property with several sheriff’s office vehicles parked nearby. A yellow tarp was visible in the field. The Redland area sits in southwest Miami-Dade and includes farmland, plant nurseries and scattered homes.

The sheriff’s office said homicide detectives took over the case. Investigators were expected to review the scene, interview people connected to the property and wait for findings from the medical examiner before releasing more details.

No charges had been announced Friday. The cause and manner of death remained unknown, and officials had not said when the next update would be provided.
