TWIN FALLS, Idaho – The Idaho State Police are currently investigating a series of unfortunate events that unfolded in their state on Thursday. The incident involves the escape of an inmate and his suspected accomplice, leading to multiple homicides being uncovered along the way.
The escaped individuals, identified as Skylar Meade and Nicholas Umphenour, managed to flee a hospital in Boise after assaulting officers. Authorities believe that the pair then embarked on a crime spree across Idaho, which eventually led to tragic outcomes.
It is believed that the fugitives encountered 83-year-old James L. Mauney, who was reported missing in Juliaetta, ID. Unfortunately, Mauney was taken by the suspects along with his dogs and transported to a remote area where his lifeless body was found near an abandoned vehicle.
Tragically, the horrors did not end there, as another victim, 72-year-old Gerald “Don” Henderson, was discovered deceased at his residence in Orofino. Authorities found Mauney’s dogs and potential evidence linked to Meade at Henderson’s home, raising more questions about the suspects’ motives.
Despite the unsettling discoveries, law enforcement was able to track down the stolen vehicle associated with the suspects at a residence in Filer after receiving tips from the public.
