Four Found Dead in West Bend Home, Police Say

Two children were among those killed, while another girl survived and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

WEST BEND, Wis. — Four people, including two children, were found dead Saturday inside a West Bend home, and police said they believe the person responsible for the deaths was among those found inside the residence.

West Bend police responded to the home in the 100 block of East Washington Street after dispatchers received a call at about 11:47 a.m. reporting multiple deceased people inside. Officers found an adult woman, an adult man, a boy and a girl dead in the home. Another girl who was inside the residence was taken to a hospital, authorities said.

Police have not released the names or ages of the people who died or publicly identified the person they believe was responsible. Lt. Brian McAndrews said the people in the home were connected to one another and that investigators believe the suspect was inside the residence with those who were found dead.

A firearm believed to have been involved in the incident was recovered inside the home, police said. A dog was also found dead there. Authorities have not released additional details about how each person died, and investigators had not announced a specific motive as of Sunday.

The surviving girl was reported to be in stable condition. Police have not publicly identified her or described her relationship to the people who died. Authorities also have not released the ages of the children involved.

Police initially asked pedestrians to stay away from the area while officers worked at the scene. Washington Street remained open to vehicle traffic. Investigators said there was no known continuing threat to the community.

The response continued for hours Saturday as officers processed the property and worked to determine what happened before the 911 call. Investigators have said the circumstances surrounding the deaths remain under review.

Authorities have not announced an arrest, and police have indicated that they believe the person responsible was among those found dead. No additional information about the suspected person’s identity or the sequence of events inside the home has been released.

The West Bend Police Department said the investigation remains active. Officials have not announced when the identities of those who died or additional findings from the investigation will be released.
