China Threatens Retaliation Over The Loss Of A Spy Balloon

China threatened retaliation against the United States on Sunday after the Biden administration waited days before shooting down a Chinese surveillance balloon that drifted near military and nuclear installations.

China firmly disapproves and complains about the U.S. attack on a civilian unmanned airship by force; the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement that “additional actions” might be taken if required.

On Tuesday, the spy balloon entered the continental United States and was spotted flying above Montana military stations containing nuclear missile silos. After traveling across the whole country, a military aircraft shot down the balloon off the coast of South Carolina on Saturday.

China stated that the shooting was a “clear overreaction” and a grave breach of international norms. The Chinese government claims the balloon was used for “meteorological research.” The Chinese threat against the Biden administration comes as Secretary of State Antony Blinken delayed his travel to Beijing, where he was scheduled to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping this week. China downplayed the situation by stating that the nations had “never publicized any visit” and that Blinken’s choice was “America’s own business.”

According to other stories, Biden waited until the balloon was above the open ocean before shooting it to prevent injuring bystanders with debris. Prior secretary of state Mike Pompeo said that Biden’s “weakness with China” is on the full show once again.

Pompeo added Biden must reaffirm American determination and cease promoting American weakness.

On Saturday, Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) demanded Biden’s resignation over the spy balloon scandal. Wilson said when the balloon was shot down off his state’s coast. Adding that the Chinese Spy Balloon incident imperiled families from Alaska to his home state and proved President Biden and Vice President Harris should resign.

In an appearance on Fox News, Paul echoed Wilson’s sentiments: This looks extremely weak in the eyes of adversaries, and he believes it was a monumental error. Paul said that the country needs a chief executive and a national defense that can respond within seconds to minutes to an incursion into our airspace.

The U.S. defenses are being probed even if there was no monitoring on board. Senator continued that China has received significant material regarding the Biden administration’s slow response, and Paul said Biden’s response was more destructive than any spying. Because nuclear technology is available to other countries, there must be immediate responses, and this administration’s inability to make immediate decisions indicates that the country is neither prepared nor sufficiently protected.

The Biden administration must demand an apology and an explanation in full. If it was ostensibly civilian, China needed to provide the U.S. with all the data they gathered and show the U.S. what the balloon was doing; Paul urged that the State Department needed to question the Chinese ambassador. Paul remarked that the balloon might have been dealt with over a remote place such as Alaska days earlier, but the Biden administration allowed it to float over the country.

General Jack Keane, a retired four-star army officer, made the same point earlier: Remember, this was approaching the United States across the sea. It was sailing towards the Aleutian Islands. There were several opportunities to remove it at that time. And at that time, it should have occurred.
