WICHITA FALLS, Texas – An attempted robbery at the Country Park Apartments on Professional Drive took a deadly turn on Sunday evening, according to the Wichita Falls Police Department. The incident resulted in one suspect being killed and several individuals being hospitalized with gunshot wounds.
Police officers were called to the scene around 9:30 p.m. and found three people suffering from gunshot wounds, including a resident of the apartments. The victim informed the police that two male suspects had used a firearm in an attempt to rob him, and in response, he had also pulled out his own firearm. The exchange resulted in all three individuals sustaining injuries.
Unfortunately, one of the suspects was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the other remains in serious condition under police guard. The victim who had been the target of the robbery has since been treated and released.
Authorities have not disclosed the identities of the deceased suspect or the suspect currently under guard at the hospital. The investigation is ongoing, led by the Wichita Falls Crimes Against Persons Detectives.
The police chief expressed the importance of self-defense within the boundaries of the law and emphasized the need for citizens to report any suspicious activity to law enforcement in order to prevent similar incidents in the future.
