Authorities said a neighbor’s suspicious-activity report brought officers to the Glencraig Avenue home.
GREENSBORO, N.C. — A suspicious-activity call before dawn Saturday led Greensboro police to a woman’s body inside a Glencraig Avenue home and the arrest of a man on murder and concealment charges, authorities said.
Police charged 35-year-old Djibril Sow in the death of Laquasia Shamecca Fields, 33. Officers were called to the 4600 block of Glencraig Avenue around 3:15 a.m. after someone reported activity in the neighborhood. Police said officers found Sow in the backyard before finding Fields during a safety sweep of the home.
The call described someone carrying items from the rear of the house toward a car parked on the street, police said. Officers went to the property and encountered Sow outside. Greensboro police said in a statement that officers then checked the home for safety and found Fields’ body inside. Homicide detectives were called to investigate, and Sow was later identified as the suspect.
Sow is charged with first-degree murder and concealment of death. Police said he was also served with outstanding warrants that were not related to the homicide case. Authorities have not released Fields’ cause of death. They also have not announced a motive, a timeline of when she died or details about what evidence detectives collected at the home.
Investigators said Sow and Fields knew each other, but they have not described their relationship. Police said no additional suspects are being sought. The department credited the community report with helping officers respond quickly and locate the suspect. The case became one of Greensboro’s homicide investigations for 2026, according to local reporting.
The first court steps were expected Monday in Guilford County. Local booking records showed Sow held without bond at the Guilford County Jail. The charges are allegations, and the case will move through the court system as prosecutors review the police investigation and any evidence gathered by detectives.
The scene on Glencraig Avenue centered on a backyard, a nearby parked car and the home where Fields was found. Police have not said whether neighbors saw Sow directly, whether the items reportedly moved from the home were recovered or whether investigators believe Fields died inside the house. Those details remained undisclosed as of Tuesday.
As of Tuesday, Fields had been identified, Sow remained charged and Greensboro police said they were not searching for anyone else. The next updates are expected through court filings or additional police statements.
