Violent Machete Attack at Coral Isle Restaurant on Cayman Brac Spurs Police Investigation

Cayman Brac, CAYMAN ISLANDS – A violent attack occurred at Coral Isle Restaurant on South Side Road West, marking the second such incident on Cayman Brac in a fortnight. The assault, which involved a machete, took place at lunchtime on Thursday, following a previous stabbing at La Esperanza bar on Watering Place Road. Both suspects apprehended by the police in connection with these attacks are from Grand Cayman.

The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) reported that around noon on Thursday, February 8th, they received a report of an assault involving a bladed weapon. Upon arrival, officers found an injured man on the ground near a vehicle and a second man, armed with a machete, behaving aggressively toward him.

Law enforcement recovered the machete and arrested a 28-year-old man, currently residing on the Brac but originally from West Bay, for assault ABH, possession of an offensive weapon, and damage to property. The injured man received treatment at Faith Hospital for his injuries and was later released.

In the previous stabbing incident at La Esperanza, a 46-year-old woman from George Town was arrested as a suspect. The police are appealing for witnesses to come forward and provide any information related to the incident.
