Two Men Charged with Murder in Fatal Shooting at L.A. Live Restaurant

Los Angeles, California – Murder charges have been filed against two individuals in connection with the fatal shooting of a man at a restaurant located in the bustling L.A. Live entertainment complex in downtown Los Angeles.

The victim, identified as Sidney Barrett Morris, 43, was tragically shot and killed while dining at Fixins Soul Kitchen on West Olympic Boulevard in November. The suspects, Phillip Pasco Clark, 33, from Los Angeles, and Santana Jermaine Kelly, 50, from Palmdale, are facing charges of murder and conspiracy to commit a crime in the case.

At their arraignment this week, both Clark and Kelly pleaded not guilty to the charges. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for April 25 to further investigate the case.

According to reports, the incident unfolded when Clark entered the restaurant and targeted Morris, opening fire without provocation. Morris succumbed to his injuries at the scene, sparking shock and sadness among patrons and the community.

Prosecutors have alleged that Kelly played a role in planning the shooting and subsequently attempted to destroy evidence by setting fire to the getaway car the day after the killing. Both suspects are currently being held on high bail amounts. It remains unclear if they have legal representation at this time.

Details surrounding a potential motive for the shooting have not yet been disclosed, leaving many questions unanswered in the investigation.

In response to the tragic event, Fixins Soul Kitchen released a statement expressing shock and sorrow over the incident, extending condolences to Morris’ family and loved ones. The restaurant, owned by former NBA player and Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, described Morris as a dedicated advocate for inclusivity and harmony in society.

District Attorney Gascón conveyed his condolences to Morris’ family and affirmed his commitment to seeking justice for the crime. The brazen nature of the shooting has raised concerns, underscoring the importance of accountability for those responsible for the heinous act.
