Two Arrests Made in Connection to Violent Attack at Edmonton LRT Station, Three Suspects Still at Large

In Edmonton, Alberta, two individuals have been arrested in connection with the assault of a senior at a downtown LRT station. The incident, which occurred on February 24, 2024, resulted in the victim sustaining serious but non-life-threatening injuries after being attacked by multiple suspects at the ground level Churchill platform of the Valley Line LRT.

According to the Edmonton Police Service, a 64-year-old man was waiting for a train when he was approached by a male suspect. The verbal exchange between the victim and the suspect quickly escalated into a physical assault, with five other suspects joining in to rob the man before fleeing the scene in front of city hall. The victim was subsequently taken to the hospital by EMS for treatment.

While three suspects have been identified and charged, three others remain at large. Detailed descriptions of the suspects have been provided by the authorities, including clothing and physical characteristics, in the hopes of soliciting information from the public. The police are particularly interested in locating Markus Lee Gladue, 21, who is wanted for aggravated assault, possessing a dangerous weapon, and robbery.

In addition to Gladue, two other individuals have been taken into custody. Brady Rodney Desroches-Smith, 28, faces charges of aggravated assault and robbery, and is also linked to a murder investigation by the Grande Prairie RCMP. Meanwhile, Travis Damian Houle, 35, is charged with aggravated assault, robbery, and failure to comply with a probation order.
