Nico Nieves and Roy Capell, two recent transplants to Washington, D.C., reported a violent encounter after boarding a Metrobus in the early hours following a visit to a U Street gay bar on Halloween night. The pair described the attack as sudden and intense, with multiple assailants striking them repeatedly. Metro officials have taken the allegations seriously and are currently investigating the incident, with the victims urging that it be treated as a hate crime.
In another disturbing event, Bryan Smith, a local DJ, did not survive an attack that occurred on October 26 after his work shift. Found unconscious on T Street Northwest, Smith was robbed of his phone and wallet and left in a critical condition, ultimately leading to his death a week later. Police are actively seeking two suspects believed to be connected to the assault and have announced a $1,000 reward for information leading to their arrest.
Elsewhere, Fairfax County witnessed a concerning theft at Dominion Defense, where perpetrators stole over a dozen firearms after ramming a vehicle through the facility’s entrance. Although some weapons have been recovered, many remain unaccounted for, and police suspect the involved parties may be connected to additional crimes.
In Gaithersburg, Maryland, a 17-year-old boy is recovering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound following a shooting incident. Montgomery County police responded to the scene on Spiceberry Circle, where the teen was found and subsequently transported to a hospital. The suspect vehicle was pursued by officers, and three individuals were charged the following day in connection with the shooting.
Adding to the list of severe crimes, two women were arrested in Maryland for their involvement in a murder-for-hire plot. The suspects, identified as Adelaida Consuelo Zacarias Chacon of Germantown and Reyna Gomez Lopez of Philadelphia, allegedly conspired to kill Zacarias Chacon’s ex-boyfriend. Police reports indicate that Zacarias Chacon had offered $1,000 to Gomez Lopez to find someone to carry out the murder. Both women are facing charges of first-degree conspiracy to commit murder.
